Instructor: Guest Instructor River
In this workshop River (fae/they) will teach you how to slay your pole dance with engaging shots and clips, and work with you to film in class!
Class starts with a dancey full body warm up. Then we will move into the lesson on how to create engaging pole dance clips with whatever tools you already have, which includes tips and tricks River has learned both dancing in and filming covering key tips for lighting, angles, simple editing and dance storytelling.
Split into two groups, we will practice these techniques using whatever smart phone or camera you bring to class. Students will receive a hand out sheet with all the information + bonus tips try outside of class. After the lesson each student will solo freestyle and be professionally filmed by River while the other students watch and cheer them on. All workshop attendees will get the full recording of their freestyle emailed to them after class, there will also be an option to pay an additional $50 to River directly for a package of 3 additional edited 15-45 second reel style clips. If you want to see examples of River’s work head over to their media website skycladstudio.com.
What to wear/bring: Smart phone or camera, water bottle, your favorite pole grip if you like to use it, whatever you want to wear for your freestyle! You are welcome to bring two outfits, one for the warmup and lesson and one for your dance and change in between. If you have a tripod for your phone or camera, bring it but not required.
Accessibility: Since the dancing in this class is all freestyle based you can accommodate yourself and find dance that feels good for your body! Class will involve some sitting on the floor while other students are dancing, students are welcome to bring a pillow or borrow a chair to sit more comfortably during this section.
