Weekly Course Descriptions:

Week 1: Unveil Your Story: Vision & Vibes: A Pole Performance Creation Lab Explore vision boarding, music selection, character building, costuming concepts, and how to weave it all together into a performance that feels authentic, powerful, and unforgettable. Sara will work with you one-on-one to shape your concept and help you find choreography that feels good in your body. You’ll also learn techniques to create and actually remember your choreography (because let’s be honest, we’ve all blanked mid-spin!). Bring your creativity, your questions, and a list of pole moves you feel rock-solid with—this class is the perfect place to turn movement into meaning and ideas into art.

Week 2: Own the Stage: Emotion, Expression & The Final Polish This class is all about presence. You’ll explore how to use facial expressions, eye contact, and performance angles to command attention and stir emotion in your audience. Sara will teach you her go-to lighting hacks to make sure your best angles literally shine, and share practical character acting tips to help your movement feel more genuine and magnetic. Bring your character, bring your attitude, and get ready to captivate from the moment the lights hit you.

Week 3: Act Progression Lab: Choreo Check-In & Creative Momentum Your performance is taking shape—now it’s time to workshop, refine, and find your flow. In Act Progression Lab, you’ll have dedicated time to rehearse your piece, identify where things are feeling stuck, and get targeted feedback on what to add, adjust, or enhance. Each student will receive 1:1 coaching with Sara to fine-tune specific sections, troubleshoot tricky transitions, and ensure your act feels authentic and cohesive. You’ll also get a chance to perform parts of your act for the group in a supportive, feedback-rich environment. Come ready to dance, discuss, and develop your act further—it’s all about momentum and making meaningful progress. Let’s keep that creative fire burning.

Week 4: Face the Stage: Character Makeup Magic Lights, camera, lash glue! It’s time to bring your character to life—face first! In the second installment of The Art of the Act: Creating Captivating Performances, join Sara for Face the Stage: Character Makeup Magic, a hands-on, brush-in-hand session that will have you performance-ready from brows to bold lips. Sara will work with you individually to develop a unique makeup style that matches your character and stage persona—because every powerful performance needs a face that speaks volumes before you even move. Come ready with your makeup kit and character concept—we're painting the vision into reality, one contour at a time. Supplies needed for this class: Makeup brushes, a good coverage foundation, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, lipstick, eyelashes and eyelash glue (if you want to wear them), translucent setting powder and a powder puff.

Week 5: Act Refinement & Flow: From Piece to Performance We’re in the home stretch, and it’s time to bring everything together. In this second review session, you’ll deepen the storytelling arc of your act and finesse the transitions, timing, and character delivery that turn “choreo” into captivating performance. Expect more individualized feedback, rehearsal time, and exercises focused on overall cohesion—whether it's syncing your energy with your music, smoothing out flow between movements, or amplifying your act’s emotional resonance. We’re shaping your performance into its most polished, powerful form. Think of this class as your final tune-up before dress rehearsal—and a celebration of just how far you’ve come.

Week 6: Spotlight Ready: Dress Rehearsal & Final Flourishes: It’s showtime... almost! In the final class come dressed to impress in your performance makeup and costume—we're treating this like the real deal! This is your chance to run your act in its near-final form and receive personalized feedback from Sara (and possibly a few surprise guest instructors 👀). You’ll get expert eyes on the little details: think polish, presence, and those last dramatic touches that make your performance pop. Expect encouragement, refinement, and a supportive vibe as we celebrate how far you’ve come—and get you prepped to dazzle when it’s time to take the real stage.
